Somorrostro Beach in Barcelona

Somorrostro Beach in Barcelona

Located between the Hospital del Mar and the Marina Street, Somorrostro Beach sits on the former site of the Barceloneta Beach.

The Beach was recently renamed Somorrostro to commemorate the shanty town called Somorrostro that was demolished when the Spanish general and dictator Franco visited Barcelona in 1966.

Somorrostro Beach is very close to the city center with excellent public transportation links, making it one of the most popular beaches in Barcelona, especially for the younger generations, both locals and visitors.
